Nighttime Warbles

Shinichi, a novelist whose career stalled after early promise, drifts through gloomy, solitary days. His stagnant routine is disrupted when Yuko and her son—his friend's ex-wife—move into his home. He lets them stay. Each night, Shinichi attempts to write while Yuko goes out to meet men, torn between being a strong parent and her unspoken loneliness. Her son, aching for a father's presence, begins to look up to Shinichi. Under one roof, they maintain a careful distance, until one night when their fragile equilibrium shatters.
