He initially studied design, painting, and sculpture at the Provincial School of Visual Arts in Holguín, but graduated in 1976 from the National School of Art with a degree in Acting. Between 1978 and 1994, he worked with the Escambray Theatre Group, a community theatre project based in that mountainous region of the country. In 1975, he joined the theatre company El Público, directed by Carlos Díaz. At the same time, he developed a successful television career, standing out in series, telenovelas, and teleplays. He made his film debut in the feature La tierra y el cielo, by Manuel Octavio Gómez. He received the National Theater Award in 2026.
