🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs its dread around the slow, insidious metamorphosis of its protagonist, contrasting a provincial romance with the bodily horror of an unknown pathogen. It relies on the classic 'intruder' template but shifts focus to the victim's internal transformation.

What lingers after viewing is a grim, sticky sense of inevitability, where the sci-fi premise becomes a backdrop for exploring the limits of human sensation. The fusion of biological terror and small-town drama leaves a distinctly unsettling residue. — MovieFinder Editorial
