When the object of her desires, classmate and photographer Junichi Makimura, asks Kasumi is he can photograph her singing she accepts, thinking this means she is beautiful as well. However the end result is a comical shot of Kasumi with her mouth wide open, which Makimura likes to a hungry salmon! Distraught by the ensuing humiliation, Kasumi quits the choir, until she is encouraged to return by an unlikely counsel - the brutish leader of thuggish rival all male choir, Hiroshi Gondo.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
The film constructs its story around fragile teenage pride, using hyperbole and comedic situations to explore themes of self-worth and genuine passion. It relies on the contrast between the refined world of choral singing and the awkward reality of school life.
What lingers after viewing is a sense of warmth and the simple truth that music can bridge even the unlikeliest of divides. A gentle reminder to not take ourselves too seriously. — MovieFinder Editorial
