Scum
A British borstal for young offenders operates by its own brutal laws. Within its walls, institutional violence is the currency and survival the only true objective. New arrivals, like Carl and Davis, quickly learn that the official rulebook is meaningless. Real power lies with the inmate "Daddies" who terrorize the newcomers and the sadistic wardens who exploit the system for their own gratification. Every day becomes a raw struggle for dignity and physical safety in an institution designed to reform but which only succeeds in further dehumanizing those within its grip.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
A blistering, unflinching indictment of the penal system, presented with the grim urgency of a documentary. The film exposes a cycle of institutionalized brutality where violence is the only language spoken by both the oppressed and their oppressors.
What lingers after the final frame is a profound sense of outrage at a system designed to break spirits rather than rehabilitate. A necessary, punishing watch that refuses to be ignored — MovieFinder Editorial
Director: Alan Clarke
