The Girl From Tomorrow

Lia, a spirited young woman in 1965 Sicily, catches the eye of Lorenzo, scion of the town's most prominent—and likely mafia-linked—family. His initial charm curdles into suffocating possessiveness. The courtship takes a brutal turn when Lorenzo and his cronies kidnap, rape, and force her into a shotgun marriage, an act tacitly sanctioned by the town's complicit authorities.
