Runner

Mariam, a young refugee from the Middle East, finds herself in a Lithuanian temporary detention center. Her days blur into a numb routine of waiting for an asylum decision, surrounded by sterile walls and other displaced souls. She clutches at fragments of her former life through fading memories and rare, crackling phone calls with family left behind. The rigid procedures and confined corridors begin to dissolve the line between refuge and imprisonment. This liminal space becomes a physical manifestation of her suspended existence, caught between a shattered past and an uncertain future, between a lost homeland and an unwelcoming present.
