Chronicle of a Summer

Anthropologist Jean Rouch and sociologist Edgar Morin take to the bustling Parisian streets in the summer of 1960, camera in hand. They stop passersby, workers, and students, posing a deceptively simple question: "Are you happy?". Conversations flow from sidewalks into cafes and apartments, touching on loneliness, work, love, and the Algerian War.
