Tonbi
Yasuo, who grew up an orphan, builds a fragile world of meaning around his wife's love and the birth of his son, Akira. This carefully constructed reality shatters instantly when his wife dies in an accident. Left alone with a grieving child, the man—who never experienced parental love himself—must navigate a silence thicker than words. The familiar space of their home becomes a landscape of unshared sorrow and daily rituals performed on autopilot. Yasuo is forced to learn fatherhood from scratch, fumbling through his own anguish and his son's despair, searching for a thread delicate enough to stitch their broken lives back together.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
The Kite is a quiet, piercing study of fatherhood as an act of courage born from helplessness. The director foregoes grand dramatic gestures, letting silence and the mundane speak volumes about loss and the clumsy attempts to move past it.
What lingers after the credits is the profound sense of healing as a tactile, gradual process, where the real miracle is not a loud reconciliation but the learned ability to simply be present. A film that leaves a residue of quiet sorrow and restrained hope — MovieFinder Editorial

Muted light in rooms, a tactile silence between father and son, hesitant gestures in the kitchen.
