From the Archives of Modern Art

1987 · 18 min Comedy Documentary Music

In this work of documentary fiction, an archivist attempts to put together the "lost years" of Eleanor Antinova, the once-celebrated black ballerina of Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, when she returned to her native America to eke out a meager living in vaudeville and early cinema. Eleanor Antin uses fictional characters, autobiography, and narrative to invent histories and explore what she calls "the slippery nature of the self".

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

From the Archives of Modern Art is an acquired taste at 0.0/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

A classic from 1987. They don't make them like this anymore — which is exactly why you should watch it. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
