The Holy Innocents

Paco el Bajo and his family are landless laborers on a vast estate in 1960s Extremadura. Their days are spent in backbreaking work in the fields and the master's house, enduring humiliation and exploitation with a quiet, animal-like submission. Paco's sole dream is to secure an education for his children, to break the cycle of poverty and deference. Yet every tentative move toward dignity meets the immovable wall of class privilege. The film is a stark portrait of silent resistance and the humanity of those society deems invisible.
