The film constructs its comedy on the clash between military rigidity and civilian absurdity, using the honest general as a catalyst for escalating farcical situations. It explores themes of post-retirement purpose and domestic scheming with a light, precise touch.
What lingers after the final credits is a warm, witty satire on social conventions, where personal integrity triumphs over all chaos. A charming piece of classic Italian comedy. — MovieFinder Editorial
