🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs a gripping moral drama, relying on the neglected history of the Philippine-American War. It explores the impossible position of a civilian leader torn between an occupying force and his own brother's guerrilla fighters.

What lingers after viewing is a profound sense of the war's intimate cruelty and the devastating personal cost of survival under occupation. — MovieFinder Editorial
