When U.S. troops occupy his village, Rafael comes under pressure from a tough-as-nails officer to help the Americans in their hunt for Filipino guerilla fighters. But Rafael's brother is the head of the local guerillas, and considers anyone who cooperates with the Americans to be a traitor. 🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs a gripping moral drama, relying on the neglected history of the Philippine-American War. It explores the impossible position of a civilian leader torn between an occupying force and his own brother's guerrilla fighters.

What lingers after viewing is a profound sense of the war's intimate cruelty and the devastating personal cost of survival under occupation. — MovieFinder Editorial
