Les Travailleuses de la mer

1985 · 26 min Documentary

The documentary shows the living and working conditions of two categories of women working in the fishing port of Lorient in Brittany. Close on 800 women work there in conditions that have barely changed in 50 years. They are on their feet all the time, carrying heavy loads and working with ice in the cold and the damp. At night, women sort the fish, by day others filet the fish (tidal and processing workers).

Les Travailleuses de la mer is an acquired taste at 0.0/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

A classic from 1985. They don't make them like this anymore — which is exactly why you should watch it. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
