Winter Journey
Tucson, Arizona, 1996. Elderly George Goldsmith, at his son Martin's request, reluctantly opens the door to his past. His memories carry us to Nazi Germany, where he was a young man from a family of Jewish musicians. Their lives became entangled with the Jüdischer Kulturbund, a paradoxical Jewish cultural association sponsored by Reichsminister Joseph Goebbels. This is a story of art surviving in a vacuum, of music performed under the watchful eye of the oppressor, and of a personal history buried deep within the chilling absurdity of state-sanctioned culture.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
The film masterfully contrasts the dry, sun-bleached quiet of Arizona with the oppressive, resonant silence of a suppressed history. It is a subdued and powerful reflection on how we carry the echoes of cultural survival and impossible choices.
What lingers after the final frame is the unsettling question of art's role in the machinery of oppression, and the quiet weight of a story finally told. A poignant and necessary historical footnote brought to life with grace and solemnity. — MovieFinder Editorial
