The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy

Arthur Dent, still in his dressing gown, learns his house is to be demolished for a bypass. This pales in comparison when his friend Ford Prefect reveals he's an alien researcher, and Earth itself is scheduled for destruction to make way for a hyperspace bypass. Thumbing a ride on a Vogon constructor ship, the pair are launched on a cosmic odyssey. They encounter a paranoid android, a chronically depressed robot, the two-headed Galaxy President who's gone rogue, and discover the ultimate answer to life, the universe, and everything—which is far more baffling than the question.
