Penny Bright & Jimmy Witherspoon

1967 · 5 min

Nelson sets minimal, repetitive imagery against a looping recording of his daughter Oona, which goes gradually from sweet to curious to mysterious to cacophonous as the loops overlap each other. Since its premiere alongside The Great Blondino and other shorts in April 1967, the film has rarely been seen. It stands out as a more textural piece from Nelson, which, rather than retreating into pure abstraction or bland trippiness, subtly transmits an undercurrent of its ominous source material. —Mark Toscano. 🎬 MovieFinder's Take

Penny Bright & Jimmy Witherspoon is an acquired taste at 0.0/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

A classic from 1967. They don't make them like this anymore — which is exactly why you should watch it. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
