🎬 MovieFinder's Take

Director Guillaume Nicloux constructs a narrative based on contrast, pitting the protagonist's laid-back, almost comedic demeanor against the grim circumstances of the case. The film relies on the atmosphere of a French provincial town and an ironic take on the noir genre, using port locations to create a sense of mild claustrophobia.

Those who tire of high-stakes thrillers will find a relaxed investigation tinged with absurdity, where the plot often gives way to observing colorful local characters. What lingers after is the feeling of a stylish, mood-driven caper. — MovieFinder Editorial
