That Can't Shake Our Willi!

1970 · 83 min Comedy
5.4 / 10 · TMDB

Summer in Germany, anno 1970. Italy is the number one destination. As every year, swarms of Teutonic tourists make their way to the Adriatic Sea. Only Willi Hirsekorn from Castrop-Rauxel has so far no plans to break south. That changes, however, as the bitchy neighbor Mizzi Buntje proudly tells of their upcoming holiday in Italy. Willi can not afford this boasting. Shortly determined, the bags are packed, and already rushes Willi in the car with his wife Sieglinde, daughter Lotti and son Kuno the sun.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs its comedy on the clash between German orderliness and the chaos of a spontaneous road trip, relying on recognizable character types and relatable family dynamics. It explores social rivalry and vacation absurdities with a gentle, ironic touch.

What lingers after the credits is the stubborn charm of Willi and the universal truth that the journey often matters more than the destination. A lighthearted snapshot of 1970s travel culture. — MovieFinder Editorial
