She single-handedly runs “Gajimaru Diner”, named after the large, deeply-rooted Gajimaru (banyan) tree in the area. Eventually, circumstances lead to her being brought together with an unknown traveler named Hayato, her ex-boyfriend Shota who returns after living in Tokyo for the past seven years, and a woman named Riko who shares something with both of them. As they work at the diner together, their relationships reveal themselves differently than what they had in mind.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
The director constructs the narrative around the metaphor of the banyan tree—its intertwined roots mirroring the complex relationships between the characters. He relies on the intimate setting of the family diner as a stage where scenes from the past are replayed, exploring how memory and new encounters reshape the present.
Those who tire of grandiose melodramas will find a gentle, nostalgic comedy where cooking becomes the language of the heart. What lingers after the credits is a sense of lightness and the quiet understanding that the strongest bonds are often unseen. — MovieFinder Editorial
