Sea of Shadows

A clandestine war rages in the murky waters of the Sea of Cortez. Investigative journalists and marine biologists plunge into a dangerous conflict against Mexican drug cartels and the Chinese mafia, who are driving the world's smallest porpoise, the vaquita, to extinction. Their target is the totoaba fish, whose swim bladder is prized as 'aquatic cocaine.' Under the cover of darkness, illegal nets are cast, while activists and the Mexican navy stage desperate interventions, planting hidden cameras and patrolling the sea in a high-stakes battle to prevent an irreversible ecological collapse.
