The Strange History of the Citizens of Shilda

1961 · 73 min Animation

The first animated feature film made in East Germany. The people of Shilda were once welcome at the courts of princes all over the world, but back at the Shilda castle work remained and had to be carried out by the women of the town. The women grew tired of this and called their men back. After many foolish decisions, the townspeople were victims of their own devices, and eventually set fire to their own city. The fire destroyed everything, and the citizens of Shilda fled out into the world.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The Strange History of the Citizens of Shilda is an acquired taste at 0.0/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

A classic from 1961. They don't make them like this anymore — which is exactly why you should watch it. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
