Noriko, a university student adrift and uncertain of her future, begins attending weekly tea ceremony lessons at a nearby house. Under the patient tutelage of Teacher Takeda, the precise, ritualistic movements—folding the fukusa cloth, listening for the sound of boiling water—initially feel alien. Yet, as the years pass and the scroll in the tokonoma alcove changes with the seasons, the practice becomes a constant. The ceremony quietly weaves itself into the fabric of Noriko's life, a serene companion through grief, joy, and the ordinary milestones of growing up, teaching her to perceive the beauty in a single, fleeting moment.
