Life in Overtime

Yoshio Sato, a lifelong dedicated salaryman at a major bank, is abruptly transferred to a sleepy subsidiary—a corporate backwater where time stretches thin and work lacks its former urgency. Nearing retirement, he grapples with an unfamiliar void he doesn't know how to fill. Surrounded by colleagues long resigned to their fate and bizarre, almost absurd office rituals, Yoshio's sharp focus begins to soften. He starts noticing previously overlooked details: a crack in the wall, the security guard's weary expression, his own reflection in the window. The mundane routine transforms into a quiet, ironic exploration of what it means to become 'the finished man.'
