Het Waterlooplein verdwijnt

1967 · 12 min Documentary

In the seventies, Waterlooplein square and the Nieuwmarkt neighbourhood faced a great deal of demolition in relation to the construction of Amsterdam’s new opera house, the ‘Stopera’, and the metro system. Van der Elsken did a lot of filming in and around Waterlooplein and its centrepiece, the legendary flea market which faced closure.

Het Waterlooplein verdwijnt is an acquired taste at 0.0/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

A classic from 1967. They don't make them like this anymore — which is exactly why you should watch it. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
