Shakkei. Geborgte Landschaften

2017 · 175 min

Bitomskys new film was inspired by the Japanese shakkei, which stands for the “borrowing” of a landscape. Japanese gardens are often planned so that a found “natural” landscape is connected with designed elements. For his film Bitomsky rediscovers his own material – like STAUB (2007) and B-52 (2001) – and creates a new whole. (Marius Babias)

Shakkei. Geborgte Landschaften is an acquired taste at 0.0/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

Released in 2017, this film holds up just as well today. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
