Mirai, a middle school freshman, drags her younger brother Yutaka to a robot exhibition on Tokyo's artificial Odaiba Island as summer vacation begins. Without warning, a cataclysmic tremor erupts from an oceanic trench. The iconic Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge crumble before their eyes, reshaping the cityscape into instant ruin. Aided by Mari, a motorcycle delivery woman they encounter in the chaos, Mirai and Yutaka embark on a perilous trek across the shattered metropolis towards their home in Setagaya, each step a battle against mounting terror and devastation.
