Lilly Parker, a young journalist, is reeling from the discovery at her father's will reading that he was not her biological parent. Tolerated only by her stepmother Nora, she consoles the heartbroken readers of the local magazine Country Lady while maintaining her own seemingly perfect relationship with the much older Eric. Her carefully arranged life is upended when she uncovers a 50-year-old letter from an American woman named Grace, who is searching for her lost love, David. In helping Grace, Lilly crosses paths with the woman's charming grandson, Nicholas, sparking a connection that challenges everything she thought she knew.
