🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The director constructs the narrative around the contrast between two brothers, using their conflict to explore themes of honor and personal defiance. The duel scenes are restrained and precise, working within the jidaigeki tradition but focusing on psychological drama over spectacle.

What lingers after the viewing is a sense of melancholy and a contemplation of the cost of one's principles in an unforgiving world. The film asks whether the law or personal truth should ultimately prevail. — MovieFinder Editorial
