🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs a melodramatic tale of love and betrayal against the epic backdrop of the famous catastrophe, relying on the visual contrast between human folly and nature's fury. It explores themes of destiny and injustice through its archetypal characters and impressive set pieces for its time.

What lingers after the final reel is the sheer spectacle of early cinema's ambition to depict the ancient world. The silent drama gains power from its historical weight and inevitable, devastating conclusion. — MovieFinder Editorial
