Satoshi Murayama, the shogi (Japanese chess) master known as the arch-rival of Yoshiharu Habu, the shogi genius of the century, died of an intractable disease at age 29. 🎬 MovieFinder's Take

Director Yoshitaka Mori constructs the narrative not as a typical sports drama, but as a profound exploration of obsession and the human spirit. He relies on silence, close-ups, and a minimalist score to convey the internal tension of a man trapped by his own body.

What lingers after the credits is not a sense of victory, but a heavy yet luminous contemplation on the value of a moment. The film forces a reckoning with what it means to truly live when time is short. — MovieFinder Editorial
