Henri-Georges Clouzot's Inferno
Watch TrailerIn 1964, Henri-Georges Clouzot's production of L'Enfer came to a halt. Despite huge expectations, major studio backing and an unlimited budget, after three weeks the production collapsed. This documentary presents Inferno's incredible expressionistic original rushes, screen tests, and on-location footage, whilst also reconstructing Clouzot's original vision, and shedding light on the ill-fated endeavor through interviews, dramatizations of unfilmed scenes, and Clouzot's own notes.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
This is quietly operating cinema. No big events, no crisis turns — just people and how they live through what happens to them.
Strengths: atmosphere, actors, accuracy of detail. Weaknesses: the pace isn't for everyone, the ending may feel unresolved.
For people who watch films for feeling, not entertainment.
Director: Serge Bromberg

Viewing atmosphere: An evening when your mind is at peace. With someone you can sit in silence with after. Wine or tea.
