1928 · 6 min Animation
6.2 / 10 · TMDB

Oswald is riding along on his horse having a merry old time when the two of them fall down a hill, right up to a castle. Oswald whistles for the princess, who blows him a kiss as she appears on a balcony. He reaches her by lassoing the balcony and tying the other end of the rope to his horse's tail, using it as a tightrope. A rival knight suddenly appears and Oswald falls off the balcony, startled. He manages to climb back up and the two fight for the princess.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The short constructs a classic fairy-tale scenario, relying on silent-era gags and pantomime to drive the comedy. Disney explores the dynamics between archetypal characters through fluid animation and sudden, playful twists in the action.

Those who tire of overly complex plots will find joy in this straightforward, gag-filled chase. What lingers after the final frame is the charm of early animation's simplicity and physical humor. — MovieFinder Editorial
