The Sun
Tetsuhiko Okudera is a Kyurio, a human untouched by the virus that reshaped the world, now an outcast in a society dominated by the Nokusu — survivors who gained immunity and superior traits but a fatal sensitivity to sunlight. Born into a poor village, he burns with resentment and a desperate longing to become one of the nocturnal elite. His childhood friend, Yui Ikuta, dedicates herself to reviving their dying home, a mission that strains their bond as Tetsuhiko is pulled into the escalating tension between the two races. In the fragile twilight between day and night, a personal quest for belonging becomes a struggle for the future of humanity itself.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
The film leverages its sci-fi premise to probe timeless questions of class, envy, and the corrosive desire to be someone else. The stark visual divide between the sun-scorched Kyurio existence and the sleek, nocturnal world of the Nokusu serves as a potent, unspoken commentary.
What lingers after the credits is a surprisingly intimate character study set against a backdrop of societal collapse, where personal yearning clashes with the needs of a community. A melancholic meditation on the grass always seeming greener on the other, genetically modified side. — MovieFinder Editorial

A twilight-drenched world of genetic apartheid, where sunlight is a threat and the night belongs to the elite.
