Suspicion
Eva and Max Gruber enjoy a healthy marriage. While she works as a journalist in the cultural sector, he is an independent artist teaching at a local college. Max and Eva are shocked when the allegation comes at them like a bolt out of the blue. Following several interviews, however, it soon becomes clear that the girl did spend a night at Max’s atelier the previous weekend. 🎬 MovieFinder's Take
Director Sabine Boss constructs a thriller not of crime, but of social erosion. She explores the mechanics of public shaming, relying on restrained performances and a claustrophobic, quasi-documentary aesthetic to amplify the sense of a life dismantled by suspicion.
What lingers after the credits is a profound unease about the fragility of truth in the court of public opinion. The film is a quiet, devastating study of presumption over proof. — MovieFinder Editorial
