8.0 / 10 · TMDB

Three high school seniors, Mikayo, Chuko, and Kei, reluctantly join a historical research club to meet a graduation requirement. Their teacher, Mr. Kachi, drags them on a mandatory trip to the remote village of Oshakabe in Yamagata prefecture to study the remnants of the ancient ochimusha clan, warriors infamous for their legendary cowardice. Upon arrival, the villagers perform a special ceremony and construct a "super shrine," an act that shatters an 800-year seal. The broken curse unleashes the ochimusha, who rise from their graves with a vengeance.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film expertly walks the tightrope between absurd comedy and genuine horror, turning a history project into a chaotic fight for survival. Its charm lies in the stark contrast between mundane school life and the supernatural nightmare that engulfs the characters.

What lingers after the credits is the delightfully oddball tone—a fusion of teen drama, folk horror, and pitch-black humor where an ancient curse feels more hilarious than terrifying. — MovieFinder Editorial
