Gamle Venner
Two elderly German men set off for Southern Norway in their Trabant in 1990. Their destination is an old beach, abandoned back in May 1945. This is no sightseeing trip, but a pilgrimage to 'old haunts,' a shoreline holding the ghosts of a youth scorched by war. Their mission is single-minded: to find what they buried there forty-five years prior. The journey becomes a time machine, where every passing face, every winding turn of the road unearths a past they had hoped to leave behind, testing a friendship forged in a different era.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
The film expertly treads the line between a light road comedy and a profound drama about the weight of memory. The dry German humor in the dialogue gradually gives way to a heavy, palpable silence as the Norwegian landscapes begin to speak louder than words.
What lingers after the final frame is a poignant reflection—not on treasure, but on the burdens we carry for decades and the quiet reconciliation with one's own history. — MovieFinder Editorial

Dusty roads under a low sky, the Trabant's creaks, and the silence of Norwegian fjords broken only by whispers of the past.
