🎬 MovieFinder's Take
The film constructs its moral framework through a story-within-a-story, contrasting frivolous modernity with a gothic tale of punishment. It relies on psychological dread rather than visual horror, exploring themes of virtue and consequence through allegory.
What lingers after the final reel is the spectral presence of a lost film, a cautionary fable about being entombed by one's own sins. The real horror lies in its absence from the archive. — MovieFinder Editorial
