The Innocent
Mahmoud, a simple-minded peasant from rural Egypt, is conscripted into the army. His naivety and sincere trust in authority make him a perfect target for manipulation. His commanders systematically convince him that political activists fighting for change are the primary enemies of the homeland. Mahmoud embraces this directive with zeal, until a confrontation with harsh reality and human fates begins to slowly fracture the artificially constructed worldview in his mind. His personal innocence becomes a tool in the hands of others, and his path to clarity proves agonizing and non-linear.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
"The Innocent" is a subtle and merciless dissection of ideological indoctrination, filmed with almost documentary poignancy. The director does not judge his hero, but with deep empathy reveals how a system exploits the most basic human qualities—trust and a desire to belong—for its own ends.
What lingers after the credits is the heavy, necessary weight of shattered illusions, where every frame breathes an air of inevitability and simmering internal revolt. A film that leaves a bitter aftertaste of truth about the cost of blind obedience. — MovieFinder Editorial
