The Innocent

Mahmoud, a simple-minded peasant from rural Egypt, is conscripted into the army. His naivety and sincere trust in authority make him a perfect target for manipulation. His commanders systematically convince him that political activists fighting for change are the primary enemies of the homeland. Mahmoud embraces this directive with zeal, until a confrontation with harsh reality and human fates begins to slowly fracture the artificially constructed worldview in his mind. His personal innocence becomes a tool in the hands of others, and his path to clarity proves agonizing and non-linear.
