Memo returns to his native village from Germany, his heart set on marrying his beloved. His hopes are shattered when Sulo, his father's killer, is released from prison. An ancient village law demands a blood feud: no revenge, no wedding. Unwilling to kill, the resourceful groom and his bride concoct a desperate scheme—to stage Sulo's fake death. The ruse succeeds, but luck, a fickle mistress, soon abandons them, triggering a cascade of absurd and unpredictable complications that threaten to unravel their carefully laid plans.
