🎬 MovieFinder's Take
This 1985 Turkish drama is a bitter parable about the collapse of a patriarchal order, where social upheaval intertwines with personal tragedy. The film skillfully depicts how pride and attachment to the past doom a man to loneliness in a new, ruthless world.
What lingers after the final scene is a poignant portrait of a man who has lost everything, including his identity, in a clash with relentless progress. Kemal Sunal's performance as the Agha imbues the character with tragic dignity, elevating a story of downfall into a universal drama about the loss of one's roots. — MovieFinder Editorial
