The Fall of Babylon
After the relatively low box office takings of 'Intolerance', D. W. Griffith would revisit his epic film three years later by releasing two of the film's interlocking stories as standalone features, with some new additional footage. The first of the two was 'The Fall of Babylon', which depicts the conflict between Prince Belshazzar of Babylon and Cyrus the Great of Persia.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
Griffith constructs a monumental narrative, relying on the stark contrast between Babylon's decadent opulence and the Persian army's austere discipline. Through pioneering panoramic shots and elaborate crowd sequences, the film explores the fall of a civilization succumbing to its own hubris.
What lingers after the viewing is the sheer scale of the cinematic spectacle, where each frame feels like a historical painting brought to life. The epic confrontation transcends the limitations of silent film with its enduring visual power. — MovieFinder Editorial
