He joins a fraternity, goes out for football, and directs his class theatrical effort. Instead of a school play, Harold suggests doing a western motion picture. Part of the plot requires them to blow up the dam that has cut off the water supply to Harold's homestead in the country. After the explosion Harold runs away because he is afraid of being arrested, but he returns just in time to win a football game for his team.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs a classic coming-of-age tale through a series of comedic set pieces, relying on the contrast between rural innocence and urban bustle. It explores themes of self-discovery and popularity with a brisk, cheerful pace that was signature to the era's campus comedies.

Those who tire of cynical humor will find a refreshing, good-natured romp here. What lingers after the final reel is the sheer, uncomplicated joy of silent-era physical comedy. — MovieFinder Editorial
