Belluscone: A Sicilian Story
This film tells the story of three defeats: Berlusconi’s political and human defeat in his “twilight”, the one of Ciccio Mirra, Berlusconi’s unconditional supporter, deeply rooted in an ancient culture that dies hard, and the director’s artistic defeat in an Italy that recognised itself in this “Berlusconian culture” for a long time, and probably still does.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
Franco Maresco constructs his documentary by weaving together three parallel lines of defeat, exploring them through a distinctly Sicilian lens. The film relies on personal stories as a microcosm for national politics, building its narrative on the stark contrast between grotesque comedy and profound melancholy.
What lingers after the viewing is a complex reflection on the mechanisms that shaped a nation's identity for decades. Those who tire of simplistic political narratives will find a layered, anthropological study of power, myth, and collective illusion. — MovieFinder Editorial
