🎬 MovieFinder's Take

Director John Gilling constructs dread through a pervasive sense of paranoia and isolation rather than cheap shocks. He relies on gothic atmosphere and explores themes of hereditary curse, physical corruption, and the fear of the outsider lurking within a community.

Those who tire of modern jump-scares will appreciate this slow-burn tale of village secrets. What lingers after the credits is the chilling idea of a horror passed down through blood. — MovieFinder Editorial
