Adolfo, a railroad engineer, is sent to a provincial station to investigate a series of thefts from trains. The investigation uncovers the existence of an unknown gang, led by a man named Ruby, who finds ways of committing their crimes in broad daylight. Director García Moreno received the full cooperation of the National Railroad in the making of the film, and it still stands today as a document of the great technological advances made in Mexico during the 1920s.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

García Moreno constructs a narrative that exists at the intersection of crime drama and industrial reportage, relying on the authentic textures of railway yards and schedules. The film explores the locomotive not as mere backdrop, but as the central mechanism of the plot, where technology dictates the rhythm and logic of the criminal act.

What lingers after the final reel is the sensation of a mechanical detective story, where the solution lies in brake systems and timetables rather than psychology. It is a fascinating journey on a phantom train made of steel and silent film intrigue — MovieFinder Editorial
