Irazca, an elderly woman, shares her modest home with her son Bayram, his wife Hatice, and their grandchildren. Their fragile peace shatters when the village headman sells a plot of common land right across from their dwelling to the cunning Haceli. As construction begins, blocking their light and path, Irazca defies the rigid social hierarchy and decides to stand against the local authorities. Her quiet, stubborn resistance plunges the family into a protracted struggle, where every trick played by the headman and the new neighbor is met with unexpected fortitude from the most unlikely source.
