Long Live the Republic

Young Ondřej navigates the final days of World War II in a Czech village. His childish worldview fractures as retreating German soldiers and advancing Soviet liberators pass through his home. The boy's simple joys and primal fears become entangled with the historical forces reshaping his nation's destiny. The war is rendered not through epic battles, but through the naive yet perceptive lens of a child for whom the line between friend and foe remains blurred. Everyday objects transform into treasures or threats under the shadow of collapsing empires.
