Bernard and the Genie
Bernard Bottle, a mild-mannered art buyer, has his world collapse in a single day: fired by his avaricious boss and dumped by his girlfriend. Amidst the ruins of his life, he discovers an ancient bottle that releases Joseph, a boisterous genie. Rather than granting three clichéd wishes, the ancient spirit becomes enamored with the modern world—television, takeaway food, and household gadgets—transforming into Bernard's chaotic but loyal companion in a series of misadventures aimed at setting things right.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
This TV movie is a warm and witty fable for adults, where magic is used not to conquer the world, but to restore simple human confidence. Alan Cumming as the genie electrifies the screen with irrepressible energy, perfectly contrasting Lenny Henry's touchingly shy Bernard.
What lingers after the credits is the charm of a gentle comedy that humorously explores what truly matters: not wealth, but friendship and self-respect. A perfect pick-me-up, utterly devoid of saccharine sentiment. — MovieFinder Editorial
